Almost nobody takes this degree on a campus. Of the 23 programs we verified, exactly one is not delivered online, and it is also the cheapest on the site.

Why Campus-Based DHSc Degree Programs Are Rare
The DHSc was built for people who already hold a health credential and a job, and that single fact
decides the delivery mode. A program that meets on weekday afternoons cannot recruit a physical
therapist working full time in another state, so almost every school that launched one built it
online. 22 of the 23 enrolling programs we verified are
remote.
That makes the survivors interesting rather than backward. A campus program is either attached to
a public university that can price the degree far below the private online field, or attached to
an academic health centre where being physically present is the point. Both of those show up in
the four below.
The Campus-Based DHSc Program
East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania
Doctorate of Health Science (D.H.Sc.) · East Stroudsburg, PA · Public
The clearest case for turning up in person. East Stroudsburg is a public university with the lowest published graduate tuition on the site, and it runs a nine-term sequence to a full dissertation with two concentrations, Health Management and Administration or Advanced Research Administration. If you want a traditional doctorate at a public price, this is it.
What to Ask Before Choosing a Campus-Based DHSc Degree Program
How often you actually have to be there. "Campus-based" covers everything from a weekly seminar to
two weekends a term, and the schools on this page publish less about format than the online ones
do. Get the answer in writing before you calculate a commute across three years.
Then ask about the capstone, because campus programs skew toward the dissertation and that is the
component most likely to extend a doctorate beyond its advertised length. The
programs that end in an applied project are almost
all online, so on this axis the two choices are more entangled than they look.
Frequently Asked Questions About Campus-Based DHSc Degree Programs
Are there campus-based DHSc programs?
Yes, but they are the exception. 1 of the 23 enrolling programs we verified are campus-based; the rest are delivered online. That ratio is the opposite of most doctorates and it follows from who takes this degree: working clinicians who cannot relocate.
Why would you choose a campus DHSc over an online one?
Two reasons show up in the data. 1 of these are public universities and carry the lowest published tuition on the site, so cost is a real argument. The other is proximity: a campus program at a large academic health centre puts you next to the clinical enterprise, which is the one thing a remote program cannot sell you.
Do campus DHSc programs take longer?
Not inherently, but they more often end in a full dissertation rather than an applied project, and the dissertation is the part most likely to stretch a doctorate past its published length. Check the capstone column rather than the delivery mode if length is your concern.
